Location
( LIV-9 Yin Wrapping YINBAO - Acupuncture Points ) 4 cun proximal to the medial condyle of the femur, between the sartorius and vastus medialis muscles. Alternative locations: 4 cun proximal to ➞ LIV-8 (for example, Deadman et al 1998, ➞ photo), 4 cun proximal to the junction of the shaft and the condyle of the femur (for example, Hecker et al ➞see line drawing) or 4 cun proximal to the midpoint of the condyle of the femur (for example, Ogal and Stör 1999, ➞illustration on p. 443).
How to find
From ➞ LIV-8, measure 4 cun in a proximal direction. There, locate LIV-9 on the border between the more medial, narrow sartorius muscle and the anteromedial vastus medialis muscle. Sensitivity to pressure should determine the location of this point.
